Abstract
In investigating literary relationship between France and Germany in the Middle Ages, the focus has always been on the important French influences shaping German literature especially during the 12th century. This paper reverses the prospective and examines the transfer of literature from medieval Germany to France which has been completely neglected. The examples discussed here include religious, legal and historical texts as well as the French translation of the courtly epic "Theuerdank", made in 1528 for Princess Margaret of Austria.
